Iran Defeats Hong Kong at 2024 Asian Women's Handball Championship
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran defeated Hong Kong 26-17 on Friday and advanced to semifinals of the 2024 Asian Women's Handball Championship.
Team Melli Banovan, who had lost to Japan 34-14 and defeated India 32-30 in Group B, also qualified for 2025 World Women's Handball Championship.
Group A consists of South Korea, China, Kazakhstan and Singapore.
Iran is scheduled to meet the Group A top team on Sunday.
The competition, taking place from December 1 to 12, 2024 in New Delhi, India, is the 20th edition of the Asian Women's Handball Championship.
The tournament is held under the aegis of the Asian Handball Federation and acts as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2025 World Women's Handball Championship, with the top four teams qualifying for the 2025 World Women's Handball Championship.
