Iran Condemns Israeli Strikes on Displaced Gazans
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s unrelenting brutal strikes on the refugee camps and the tents of displaced people in Gaza.
In a statement on Monday morning, Esmaeil Baqaei denounced the Israeli attacks that have killed and injured dozens of innocent people in Gaza, including at the Nuseirat refugee camp.
He also bemoaned the “continued shameful inaction” of the international institutions and the UN Security Council on the relentless genocide of Palestinians as the US has lent its full support to the Zionist regime.
The Iranian spokesman also called for the international community’s immediate action to stop the genocide in Gaza and punish the Israeli leaders for heinous crimes.
Baqaei cited the rulings issued by the International Criminal Court on the prosecution and arrest of senior Israeli officials for war crimes and crimes against humanity, reminding the ICC member states of their responsibility to execute the warrants.
He said all governments are duty-bound, in accordance with the public international law, to make sure that the international humanitarian law is observed and genocide is prevented.
Apart from committing war crimes and crimes against humanity, the Zionist regime has undoubtedly committed two other crimes under jurisdiction of the ICC, namely genocide and aggression, he added.
The Iranian spokesman also decried the Israeli regime’s disregard for the rulings issued by the
International Court of Justice on the cessation of genocide and avoidance of measures in contradiction to the Genocide Convention.
He finally stressed the need for the international community to take the necessary measures to force the Israeli regime to pay a price for recurrent law-breaking and abide by the rulings issued by the UN courts.
His comments came after the Israeli forces bombed the UNRWA-run Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz School in southern Khan Younis on Sunday, killing at least 20 people, including children.
The attack followed an assault on a school in northern Beit Hanoon that killed 43 people and another on a Civil Defense Post that killed a journalist and five rescue workers.
Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 44,976 Palestinians and wounded 106,759 since October 7, 2023.
