Iran Volleyball Team Earns First Ever Victory over Russia
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian national volleyball team defeated Olympic champion Russia 3-1 (20-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-23) in the 2015 FIVB World League on Saturday.
Maxim Mikhaylov was the top scorer for the Russia with 17 points, while Mojtaba Mirzajanpour and Milad Ebadipour got 14 each for Iran.
It’s Iran’s first ever victory over Russia in the nation’s history in the match held at Saint Petersburg Volleyball Centre, Kazan, Russia.
Iran has already lost its four previous matches to USA and Poland respectively.
USA tops Pool B with 14 points, followed by Poland with 11 points.
Iran sits third with four points and Russia remains bottom of the pool with only one point.
