Syria Army Recaptures Al-Hamah near Damascus

DAMASCUS (Tasnim) – Syria’s army managed to take back control of al-Hamah town, west of the Syrian capital of Damascus, after fierce clashes with Takfiri terrorists holed up in the town.

According to Tasnim dispatches, Syrian troops pushed deep into territories under the control of the terrorists in al-Hamah, located near the Barada River in the Qudsaya district, and seized back the town.

The recapture came after the army troops initially established control over the Oyoun district of the town and another strategic point overlooking their mobilization centers and defensive lines.

Residents of al-Hamah were observed celebrating the government troops’ presence in the town.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
