Syria Army Inflicts Major Losses on Terrorists in Quneitra, Daraa

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Large groups of Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, formerly known as the al-Nusra Front, terrorists were killed in Syria’s Quneitra after the army’s artillery pounded their positions in the southwestern province.

On Tuesday, the Syrian troops lobbed a barrage of artillery rounds at the militant positions in the areas of Tal al-Hamria, Dahret al-Kassarat and Koroum al-Kasha, south of Hadar village in the northern part of Quneitra, killing and injuring large groups of them, the official SANA news agency reported.

Several vehicles equipped with heavy machine guns were also destroyed in the bombardment.

Separately, the Arab country’s artillery hit the gathering centers of terrorists in Daraa al-Balad and al-Nazihin in the southwestern province of Daraa, leaving dozens of them dead or injured.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
