No Suspicious Activity Reported in Nationwide Rallies: Iranian Police Chief
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Police Chief Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari announced that no suspicious activity was reported during the rallies held across the country to mark the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution’s victory.
Speaking to reporters here in Tehran, Brigadier General Ashtari highlighted his forces’ efforts to ensure security of the nationwide demonstrations held on Friday and said there has been no suspicious case during the event.
The Law Enforcement forces are carrying out their mission carefully, the police chief added.
Iranian people from all walks of life took to streets on Friday for the nationwide rallies marking the 38th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ashtari denounced recent anti-Iran remarks by some US officials, saying that none of the US presidents have been kind to the Iranian people.
The US officials are the same in nature, he added.
The remarks came after US Defense Secretary James Mattis called Iran "the single biggest state sponsor of terrorism in the world" in his first comments on the country Saturday.
The new US administration has adopted a more belligerent stance on Iran than the previous one.
US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on January 27 banning nationals temporarily from seven Muslim-majority nations, including Iran, from entering the US.
Later, Washington added more Iranian individuals and entities to its anti-Iran sanction list. The US Treasury Department said it has published a list of 13 Iranian figures and 12 entities facing new sanctions.
In reply, Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the measure and vowed to take reciprocal action against American individuals and companies with a role in creating and supporting extremist groups in the region.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry said the list of the targeted American figures and companies will be released later.
