Over 20 Takfiri Militants Killed in Syria’s Qalamoun
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian forces and their allies launched an operation against the Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly known as al-Nusra Front) Takfiri group in Damascus countryside, inflicting major losses upon them and killing over 20 militants.
On Saturday, Syrian forces, backed by military aircraft, targeted the positions of al-Nusra terrorists in the West of Qalamoun and scored gains against them in the direction of Jroud Fleiteh hilltop in the mountainous region, a military source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told SANA.
At least 23 militants were killed during the clashes in the area.
The source added that the terrorists’ defensive lines were in a state of complete collapse following the strikes by the Arab country’s jets.
It further said that that army units are continuing their operations to clear the area of remnants of the militants holed up there.
Earlier, fighters from Lebanon's Hezbollah resistance movement, backed by Syrian warplanes, managed to liberate several border areas between the two countries from the clutches of the terrorists, in an ongoing joint counter-terrorism operation.
Hezbollah fighters managed to liberate Sahl al-Raweh, Sahr al-Haweh, Wadi Dakik, Taftanaz and Wadi Zaarour Baren areas in the Juroud Arsal region on the outskirts of the Lebanese town of Arsal on Friday.
In Qalamoun, Hezbollah fighters also recaptured al-Burkan hill and al-Koreh Awwal, Zalil al-Haj and Harf al-Sabah areas from terrorists, with the aid of heavy artillery fire.
