Iran Finishes Third at Asian Squash Team Championship
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's men's team came third in the 19th Asian Squash Team Championship semi-final in Cheongju, South Korea.
The Iranian team lost to Hong Kong 2-0 in semi-final and finished in third place for the first time.
Iran defeated Thailand 3-0 in Pool D and beat Chinese Taipei 2-1 but lost to Malaysia 2-1 and advanced to the next round as the top second team.
Iran beat Japan 2-1 in the quarter-final and booked a place in the semis for the first time.
Team Melli was defeated against Hong Kong 2-0 in the semis and won the bronze medal.
The Asian Team Championship is the international squash competition played between teams representing different nations organized by the Asian Squash Federation.
Countries enter teams of three or four players to represent them in the championship. In each round of the competition, teams face each other in a best-of-three singles matches contest. Each competition is held once every two years.
