Iranian Paralympic Champion Rostami Tests Positive for Coronavirus

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Rio Paralympic champion Rouhollah Rostami has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The Iranian is under self-quarantine at home and is making “good progress” in his recovery.

Rostami claimed a gold medal at the Nur-Sultan 2019 World Para Powerlifting Championships in July.

Iran Olympic silver medalist Ehsan Hadadi had also been diagnosed with COVID-19 but he has fully recovered from the disease.

Iran’s total death toll from the new coronavirus outbreak rose to 4,474 on Sunday with 117 lives lost in the past 24 hours, according to a health ministry spokesman.

More than 43,800 coronavirus positive cases in the country have fully recovered from the disease, the spokesman said.
