Hasakah Events Part of US’s Attempt to Recycle Daesh, Justify Presence: Syrian Envoy
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations described the recent clashes between Kurdish militias and Daesh militants in al-Hasakah as Washington's attempt to "recycle Daesh".
Ambassador Bassam Sabbagh stated that the recent events in Syria’s al-Hasakah are part of Washington's attempt to recycle the Daesh terrorist organization and justify the remaining of its forces in Syria, despite growing local and international pressure on them to evacuate the Syrian territory.
During a UN Security Council meeting on Wednesday Sabbagh urged the Council to take action against the destruction of Syrian infrastructure by American aircraft in Hasakah amid the clashes between Daesh terrorists and the US-backed QSD Kurdish militia.
He stated that the events in Hasakah necessitate the Council's efforts to end US forces' presence in northeast Syria and the al-Tanf area.
He also highlighted the need to push the US to stop sponsoring QSD separatist militias and other terrorist entities in al Tanf and al-Rukban Camp, and end plundering Syria from its natural resources and wealth.
He also lambasted some countries' governments for failing to fulfill their obligations to return their terrorist citizens and their families who are being held in camps and detention centers in northeast Syria, as well as to try and rehabilitate them on their own soil, putting an end to their presence on Syrian soil.
The envoy reiterated that any discussion of the situation in Syria is insufficient and a waste of time as long as some Western countries continue to obscure the main challenges that Syria faces, by diverting attention away from the aggressive practices that exacerbate the situation and have catastrophic consequences for the lives of Syrian citizens.
