Armenia Hails Iran’s Support for Sovereignty of Nations

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Armenian diplomat lauded Iran for its constructive stances in support of the sovereignty of countries and opposition to any change in international borders.

In a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian in Tehran on Sunday, Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan expressed Yerevan’s gratitude to Iran for its principled and constructive stances on the sovereignty of regional states and for the rejection of any change in international boundaries.

He also described the inauguration of Iran’s consulate general in the southern Armenian city of Kapan as a major development and a milestone in the growing relations between the two neighbors.

Safaryan also highlighted the capacities and infrastructures available for the expansion of economic ties between Armenia and Iran, stressing the need to carry out the previous bilateral agreements.

For his part, Amirabdollahian expressed satisfaction with the enhancement of relations between the two friendly neighbors.

He also described the opening of Iran’s consulate general in Kapan as a major practical step in boosting the trade exchanges and achieving the goals of economic cooperation.
