Spain Beats Iran at World Handball Championship
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Spain defeated Iran 35-22 at the 2023 International Handball Federation (IHF) World Handball Championship Monday night.
“We achieved our main goal to pass the main round with four points,” said Spain’s captain Gedeon Guardiola. “Our attitude was good against Iran; we had a good defense and are happy to achieve this result.”
Iran started the campaign with a 25-24 win over Chile in Group A but lost to Montenegro 34-31 in its second match.
Iran is pitted in Group I along with France, Slovenia, Montenegro, Poland and Spain.
Team Melli is scheduled to play Slovenia on Wednesday and will face France and Poland on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
The 2023 IHF Men’s World Championship is being held in Poland and Sweden from January 11 to 29.
