Russian Official Claims Radioactive Cloud Moving towards Western Europe

Speaking at a meeting in Syktyvkar, Russia's northwestern city, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolay Patrushev stated at a conference in Syktyvkar on Friday that the cloud formed as a result of the Russian military striking a shipment of ammunition containing depleted uranium. This ammunition was reportedly supplied to Ukraine by the UK.

Patrushev commented on US President Joe Biden's arrival in Hiroshima for the G-7 summit, noting that one of the stated objectives of the visit is to "help Ukraine."

"They have already 'helped' Ukraine by pressuring their allies and providing depleted uranium ammunition. The destruction of this ammunition has caused a radioactive cloud to move towards Western Europe. An increase in radiation has already been detected in Poland," Patrushev warned.

In addition, he continued, "the US is developing and already using chemical and biological weapons, including in Ukraine."

Patrushev recalled that in August 1945, without any military necessity, the US dropped A-bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which caused "disastrous consequences and the death of a huge number of civilians."

"They didn’t apologize! And they are not going to apologize for what they have done. They keep brainwashing the Japanese to make them think that it was the Soviet Union, not the United States, that used nuclear weapons against them," Patrushev stated. "That's what American aid and democracy is all about!".

In late March, the UK announced its decision to supply depleted uranium ammunition to Ukraine, which drew criticism from Russia.

Farhan Haq, the deputy spokesman for the UN secretary-general, expressed concerns regarding the UK's decision, stating, "We have consistently voiced concerns about the use of depleted uranium due to its consequences. These concerns apply to any party providing such armaments."
