Israeli Strikes on Gaza Kill Two Journalists, Bringing Toll to 203

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The death toll of Palestinian journalists killed in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza has reached at least 203, following the deaths of two more reporters in separate incidents.

Omar al-Deirawi was killed early on Friday when an Israeli attack targeted his family home in Az-Zawayda town, located about three kilometers northeast of Deir al-Balah.

Earlier, on Thursday, Palestinian journalist Hassan al-Qishawi died after an Israeli drone strike targeted the area west of Gaza City.

This comes just a week after one of the deadliest attacks on journalists in Gaza. On December 26, five media workers were killed when an Israeli strike hit a broadcast van parked near al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat refugee camp.

Palestinian journalists working in the territory face significant risks while covering the ongoing war, particularly due to Israeli ground assaults and airstrikes. Additional challenges include disrupted communications, power outages, and shortages of essential supplies.

Despite these obstacles, Palestinian journalists continue to document the Israeli genocidal war, providing crucial coverage during one of the deadliest conflicts of the 21st century.

Israel, supported by the United States and its Western allies, launched a brutal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, following a major operation by Palestinian resistance forces in response to Israel's long-standing oppression of Palestinians.

The Israeli war has resulted in at least 45,581 Palestinian deaths, mostly women and children, and left over 108,000 others injured. Thousands more are feared to be trapped under rubble.

On November 21, 2023, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Minister of Military Affairs Yoav Gallant, charging them with war crimes and crimes against humanity related to the Gaza conflict.
