Israeli Raid on Jenin Leaves Widespread Destruction in Its Wake (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Israeli raid on the West Bank town of Jenin revealed widespread destruction to buildings and vehicles, while several military bulldozers continued their movements through the streets.

Violent clashes erupted in the aftermath of the Israeli raid on Jenin, as hundreds of residents, including children and the elderly, were seen running through the streets.

Eyewitnesses said that Israeli forces forced hundreds of citizens from the Jenin camp to evacuate their homes under the threat of bombing. Families sought refuge in hospital yards and the Jenin municipality hall.

The Palestinian health officials reported ten deaths and over 100 injuries in the West Bank since the start of the Israeli operation on July 3. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas's spokesperson condemned the raid as a "new war crime against our defenseless people."

Tensions have been escalating in recent months, with the UN reporting 147 Palestinian deaths in 2023.

Furthermore, the Israeli regime’s military faced accusations of targeting journalists during the raid. Footage depicted a military vehicle arriving and shooting at a camera set-up in the street. The equipment sustained damage and caught fire, while reporters in "press" jackets assessed the extent of the destruction before seeking medical assistance, according to reports from the Palestinian news agency, WAFA, the media crew included an Al Araby TV reporter and a camera operator.

The regime's army launched an assault on the Jenin camp early Monday, deploying over 1,000 soldiers and more than 100 armored vehicles.

During the clashes between Zionist forces and Palestinian resistance, ten Palestinian youths were martyred and over 100 others were wounded, with 20 reported in critical condition.

"Shami Al-Shami," one of the leaders of the Palestinian Fatah movement, described Monday's Israeli military assault on the Jenin camp as unprecedented in the past 20 years. Al-Shami added that the current generation of fighters in Jenin is the product of the brutal invasion by the Zionist army in 2002 into this camp.
