Iran’s Asgari Wins Silver at 2023 AKF Senior Championships
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Bahman Asgari Ghoncheh claimed a sliver medal at the at the 2023 AKF Senior Championships on Saturday.
Asgari lost to Kazakhstan’s Nurkanat Azhikanov 3-2 in the final match of the Senior Kumite Male -75kg.
On Friday, Atousa Golshadnezhad at the Senior Kumite Female -61kg and Behnam Deghanzade claimed two gold medals at the Senior Kumite Male -55kg.
Amir Mehdizadeh also won the bronze at the Senior Kumite Male -67 kg.
Fatemeh Sadeghi at the Senior Kata Female and Abolfazl Shahrjerdi at the Senior Kata Male seized two more bronze medals.
Sara Bahmanyar at the Senior Kumite Female -50kg, Fatemeh Saadati at the Senior Kumite Female -55kg and Sajad Ganjzadeh at the Senior Kumite Male +84kg won three bronze medals on Saturday.
The event comprises 17 categories in the senior competition and seven categories in the Para-Karate event.
Nearly 400 athletes from 31 countries have registered to participate in the event underway in Melaka, Malaysia.
