Official Expounds on Iran’s Investment Opportunities for Iraq’s KRG Investors
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The secretary of the Supreme Council of Iran’s Free and Special Economic Zones elaborated on the terms and conditions of investment in Iran for officials in Iraq’s provinces of Irbil and Sulaymaniyah.
Speaking in a meeting on Saturday entitled “Clarification of Opportunities and Advantages of Investment at Seven Districts of Free Zones”, Hojjatollah Abdolmakeli said that Iran is an unknown land for both investment and production in the world, while production cost, manpower, energy and raw materials are lucrative for foreign economic activists.
He pointed to the special advantages of free and special economic zones in Iran and added that the country offers special incentives for investors including tax and customs exemptions and also facilitation of administrative activities.
The director general of Iraq’s Kurdistan regional government for trade affairs also addressed the meeting. He pointed to the coordination and development of cooperation with Iran and emphasized the need for setting up commercial offices at joint borders between Iran and Iraq’s KRG in order to facilitate trade exchanges.
During the meeting, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was inked between the two sides for the development of trade and economic cooperation between Iran’s Maku Free Zone and Iraq’s KRG.
