2022 Asian Games: Zare Wins Gold in Wrestling

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian freestyle wrestler Amir Hossein Zare claimed a gold medal in the 2022 Asian Games on Saturday.

He first defeated Pakistan’s Zaman Anwar 10-0 and then beat China’s Buheeerdun 10-0. Zare defeated Kazakhstan’s Yusup Batirmurzaev 11-0 to secure his place in the final.

He defeated Mongolia’s Lkhagvagerel Munkhtur 7-0 in the men's 125Kg final bout.

Zare’s gold is Iran’s 12th gold medal so far in the 2022 Asian Games.

The men’s volleyball team, wrestlers Mohammad Hadi Saravi, Amin Mirzazadeh, Yones Emami and Hassan Yazdani, wushu practitioners Afshin Salimi and Yousf Sabri, discus thrower Hossein Rasouli, Sadegh Azarang in Kurash, climber Reza Alipour, and Karate athlete Sajad Ganjzadeh had previously won 11 gold medals.
