Blengini Nominated to Lead Iran Volleyball Team: Report
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Italian coach Gianlorenzo Blengini has reportedly been nominated to lead Iran’s national volleyball team.
Blengini, 52, won the silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro with Italy’s national team.
Italian coach Andrea Anastasi, Belgian Vital Heynen and Stephane Antiga of France were also reported to have been nominated to lead Team Melli.
Iran has almost missed the chance to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games following poor results in Pool A in Rio de Janeiro.
Behrouz Ataei stepped down from his role and the team is led by his assistant Alireza Toloukian at the moment.
