Overnight Israeli Attacks Claim over 200 Lives in Gaza
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that more than 200 people have been killed in Israeli air strikes on Gaza overnight.
The ministry's statement specified that the death toll covered Gaza City and the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh expressed his anguish in his weekly cabinet meeting on Monday, stating, "Scenes in Gaza are beyond human endurance. Children are being killed by bombs, hunger, and fear, wounded without access to medical care, and ambulances are being bombed live."
He emphasized the dire need for essentials such as electricity and water in Gaza, which is currently under the rubble and in desperate need of an end to the ongoing aggression to search for survivors.
Shtayyeh called upon people of conscience and advocates of human values to act swiftly to halt the relentless aggression that has turned Gaza into a valley of blood.
He referenced the Israeli regime minister Khila Eiland's disturbing remarks, revealing a desire to create a humanitarian crisis in Gaza, rendering it uninhabitable for human life.
Shtayyeh condemned this callous attitude, stating, "The Israeli minister of heritage was not satisfied with 10,000 people killed, more than 24,000 wounded, and a million displaced. He wants to see Hiroshima in Gaza, to see genocide accomplished with the nuclear bombs Israel possesses."
He also urged the International Criminal Court to issue arrest warrants against the perpetrators as a precautionary measure to halt the killing machine.
Shtayyeh called on the United Nations to cancel the celebration of International Children's Day and instead shed light on the children of Palestine who are absent from their schools and kindergartens due to the Israeli aggression.
Meanwhile, the situation in Gaza remains catastrophic for children, with nearly half of the casualties being young lives.
UNICEF spokesperson Toby Fricker revealed the immense physical and psychological struggles faced by the surviving children in Gaza.
One UN staffer's four-year-old daughter, suffering from mental health problems, has resorted to self-harm due to the immense stress of living through this daily trauma.
The death toll in Gaza has now neared 10,000, with over 4,000 children among the victims. Of the 2,600 Palestinians reported missing in the debris from air raids, approximately 1,270 are children, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
