Iran Starts 2024 CAFA U-20 Championship on High Note

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran defeated Turkmenistan 3-0 in the opening match of the 2024 CAFA U-20 Championship Sunday night.

Reza Ghandipour, Alireza Homaeifard and Yousef Mazraeh scored for Iran.

The Persians will meet Uzbekistan on Tuesday in Group B.

Group A consists of Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan.

The 2nd edition of the Championship is organized by the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) for the men's under-20 national teams of Central Asia.

Uzbekistan is the defending champion, winning the title in the inaugural edition.

The final match will be held on July 12.

The competition is being held in Jalal-Abad, Kyrgyzstan.
