At Least 23 Killed, 93 Injured in Israeli Airstrikes across Lebanon

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israeli airstrikes across multiple regions in Lebanon have left at least 23 people dead and 93 wounded, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry reported that Israeli airstrikes targeted various areas, including towns and villages in southern Lebanon, Nabatieh, the Beqaa governorate, Baalbek-Hermel, Mount Lebanon, and northern regions.

The ministry said on its X account that Israeli strikes yesterday on towns and villages of southern Lebanon resulted in 23 fatalities and 93 injuries.

The report did not include casualties from later bombardments in Beirut’s southern suburbs that took place after midnight.

One of the largest airstrikes occurred near the Palestinian refugee camp in Burj el-Barajneh, prompting many Palestinians to flee the camp. Similarly, residents of the Sabra and Shatila camps are also leaving in search of safety.

Several neighborhoods in Dahiyeh, the southern suburbs of Beirut, were struck by Israeli air raids, adding to concerns that Beirut is facing the same fate as Gaza, with the frequency and severity of strikes increasing day by day.

Though most attacks occur at night, daytime strikes have also been reported, with the situation growing more perilous for Lebanon’s residents.

The situation is increasingly dire, with widespread displacement as Israeli strikes intensify, threatening the lives of civilians.

Beirut’s southern suburbs are densely populated, home to approximately 700,000 people. South Lebanon itself houses between 500,000 and 600,000 people, leading to a mass exodus as residents flee the affected areas.

Thousands have taken refuge in the streets, beaches, parks, and schools, while the government struggles to manage the situation.

International aid is flowing in, with UN agencies, NGOs, and several Arab nations attempting to provide assistance. However, the government's capacity is overwhelmed, exacerbated by the presence of displaced Syrian and Palestinian refugees.

Israeli airstrikes on Beirut have continued, with an escalation in intensity, particularly at night. The sky is illuminated with each strike, causing widespread destruction.

Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut was also targeted, with multiple strikes hitting roads leading to the airport and its perimeter wall. Despite this, flights have not been suspended, and one plane even landed during the bombardment.
