Yemen Targets Tel Aviv with Ballistic Missiles on Al-Aqsa Storm Anniversary
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Yemen's armed forces launched two ballistic missiles at Tel Aviv, marking the first anniversary of Palestinian ressitance fighters' operation against Israeli occupied territories, according to a military spokesperson.
The Yemeni forces struck Tel Aviv on Monday with two ballistic missiles, including a new model, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the forces’ spokesman, announced.
The missiles were identified as Palestine-2 and Zulfiqar, the latter being used for the first time.
Saree stated, “The operation achieved its objectives successfully.”
The Zulfiqar missile, which is radar-evading and highly maneuverable, has a range exceeding 2,000 kilometers (1,242 miles).
Earlier that day, Yemen's forces also targeted Tel Aviv and the port of Eilat using Yaffa and Samad-4 drones.
Saree reported that "a number of these drones successfully reached their targets."
The strikes coincided with the first anniversary of the al-Aqsa Storm operation, during which fighters from Hamas and Islamic Jihad resistance groups overran Israeli military bases and settlements, capturing over 240 people.
Saree explained that the attacks were also meant to show Yemen's continued support for Gaza and Lebanon, both of which have been subjected to intensified attacks by Israel since October last year.
He added that Yemen would continue its operations until the Israeli regime ceased its war and siege on Gaza, and stopped attacks on Lebanon.
Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, congratulated the forces for their steadfast support of Palestine and Lebanon.
He also warned that Yemeni forces would "rain down hypersonic missiles" on Israeli territory "in the coming days," aiming to make Israel "taste what the people of Palestine have endured."
