US Bombs Yemen with B-2 Bombers As Conflict over Gaza Deepens
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – US and British forces launched airstrikes on the Yemeni capital Sana'a and other regions, intensifying attacks as Yemen expressed solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza and Lebanon amid ongoing Israeli offensives.
Yemen’s al-Masirah television network reported that US and British aircraft targeted the al-Hafa and Jirban areas in the north and south of Sana’a with six airstrikes early Thursday.
The network added that airstrikes also hit the northwestern city of Sa'ada, including the Kahlan and al-Abla areas to the east.
For the first time in Yemen, the US military deployed B-2 stealth bombers in these airstrikes, according to al-Masirah.
Yemen's Saba Net news agency confirmed that US-British aircraft carried out 15 raids, with six targeting areas in Sana’a and nine hitting Sa'ada Province.
A US defense official told CNN that the strikes were conducted with the B-2 bomber, known for its capability to carry heavier bomb loads and penetrate heavily defended areas.
"The Yemeni nation’s stance toward Palestine and Lebanon will not waver despite these attacks," said Nasreddin Amer, the Yemeni Deputy Minister of Information.
Amer warned the US, saying it would "pay the price" for the dawn airstrikes.
Earlier on Tuesday, US and British warplanes carried out four airstrikes in the al-Luhayyah district of Hudaydah Province.
A day prior, two airstrikes hit the al-Salif district, also in western Hudaydah.
Yemen has declared unwavering support for Palestine since Israel began its genocidal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023.
The Yemeni Armed Forces have vowed to continue their operations until Israel halts its ground and aerial assaults on Gaza.
According to recent reports, Israeli forces have killed over 42,000 Palestinians and injured more than 99,000 in Gaza.
In parallel, Israeli attacks in Lebanon over the past year have resulted in the deaths of more than 2,300 Lebanese civilians.
