Iran U-23 Freestyle Team Wins Title in World Wrestling Championships
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s freestyle team claimed the title of the 2024 U-23 World Wrestling Championships Sunday night.
The Iranian team won three gold medals, one silver and three bronzes in the competition, held in Tirana, Albania.
Mehdi Yousefi seized the gold in the 79kg, beating Chinese wrestler Feng Lu 12-5 in the final bout.
Mahdi Hajiloueian bagged a silver, losing to Rizabek Aitmukhan of Kazakhstan 11-6 in the 97kg final bout.
Ali Hossein Momeni in the 57kg and Abbas Ebrahimzadeh in the 65kg won two bronze medals.
Iranian wrestlers Amir Hossein Firouzpour in 92kg and Amir Reza Masoumi in 125kg had earlier won two gold medals as well as a bronze medal, which was won a bronze medal in 61kg.
Iran came first with 158 points, followed by Japan (102) and (Azerbaijan 100).
