TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The al-Qassam Brigades said on Sunday one of its fighters has detonated an Israeli tank in a suicide attack in the Gaza Strip.
According to the al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, the Israeli tank was completely wrecked in the attack near Gaza’s eastern Shejaiya district.
Meanwhile, Al-Aqsa TV channel reported that the Al-Qassam fighters have in a separate operation hit two Israeli Merkava tanks east of Khan Younis.
The television channel also claimed that 32 Israeli soldiers have been killed over the past 24 hours in military confrontation with the Hamas fighters.
Israel has launched a ground military operation in the Gaza Strip since Thursday after 10 days of bombardment of the enclave from the air and sea.
More than 400 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 2,700 have been wounded in the 13-day Israeli assault on the densely-populated enclave of 1.8 million Palestinians.
About 75 percent of the deaths in Gaza have been civilians, according to UN estimates.
