Iran Knocked Out of IBSA Blind Football World Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran was knocked out of the 2018 International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Blind Football World Championships.

On Tuesday, the Iranian team lost to Colombia 2-1 in Group B and failed to secure a place in the competition’s quarters.

Jhon Gonzalez was the star of the show for Colombia as he scored both of their goals, while Ahmad Shahhosseini found the net from the penalty spot for Iran at the Colegio Sagrado Corazon.

Iran started the competition with a 1-0 loss to Argentina on Saturday but thrashed France 7-0 in its second match.

The 2018 IBSA Blind Football World Championships features 16 of the world’s best teams. As well as the title on offer, the competition is also an important step on the road to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

The 2018 International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Blind Football World Championships is underway in Madrid, Spain, on June 7-17.
