Javelin Thrower Afrooz Claims Iran’s Third Gold in Paralympics
PARIS (Tasnim) – Javelin thrower Saeed Afrooz won Iran’s third gold medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games on Wednesday.
Afrooz came first in the Men’s Javelin Throw F34, throwing 41.16 meters and also broke the Paralympics record.
Colombian throwers Mauricio Valencia and Fernando Meneses Median Diego took a silver and a bronze medal with 39.04 and 37.17 meters, respectively.
Afrooz had won a gold medal in the previous Paralympics in Tokyo with a throw of 40.35.
Shooter Sareh Javanmardi and shot putter Amir Hossein Alipour had previously won two gold medals in the Games.
