Former Milan Midfielder Merkel Joins Nassaji
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Kazakh professional midfielder Alexander Merkel joined the Iranian club Nassaji.
The 32-year-old footballer has joined Nassaji on a one-year deal.
Merkel has most recently played at the Emirati club Hatta.
Born in Kazakhstan to parents of German descent, Merkel initially represented Germany internationally at youth level. He switched allegiance to Kazakhstan in 2015, making his debut in a UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying game.
Merkel started his playing career in Milan in 2010 and has also played at VfL Bochum, Watford, Udinese, and Gaziantep.
